Disability Awareness Project

DHHS and UTas (University of Tasmania) are running a project through the Minister’s Disability Advisory Committee to improve the way that people with a disability are cared for in health services in Tasmania. The project will aim to increase health professionals’ awareness of the issues that people with a disability often face.

The project team is looking for people who have had good experience with the Tasmanian health system and those who have had not so good experiences.  Video interviews will be conducted and these will become part of the training package for health professionals.  People with disability, families, carers and service providers will be interviewed.

Participants will not be paid but will have travel costs reimbursed and will need to sign a consent form.  Each person will have the final say on whether or not their interview is used.
